Bingo Pitch & Putt Golf Game: Rules for Par 3s

🗓️ Updated 8 October 2026 👥 2 to 4 players ⭐⭐⭐ Careful scoring ⏱️ Rules read in 2 minutes

Bingo Pitch & Putt is Bingo Bango Bongo made to measure for pitch & putt courses and par 3 holes. On every hole, 3 points are up for grabs: the Bingo rewards the player who reaches the green in the fewest strokes, the Bango the one closest to the pin once everyone is on the green, and the Bongo the first to hole their ball. A hole in one adds a bonus of +3 points, on top of the hole's other three points. On a par 3, everyone has a real chance to score without making a birdie: accuracy and the short game count for far more than the length of the tee shot. It is THE format for evenings with friends on short courses — three chances to shine on every hole, constant suspense, and scoring that just needs a little attention to follow the three points at once.

How to play Bingo Pitch & Putt, hole by hole

  1. On every hole, 3 points are at stake: Bingo, Bango, Bongo. The format is designed for pitch & putt courses and par 3 holes.
  2. Bingo 🟢 — the green in the fewest strokes. The player who reaches the green in the fewest strokes scores 1 point. If there is a tie, the point is shared equally.
  3. Bango 📍 — closest to the pin once all the balls are on the green: 1 point (or 0.5 each if tied).
  4. Bongo 🕳️ — first in the hole (single player), or the longest putt holed, depending on the variant chosen before the round.
  5. Ace 🎯 — a hole in one earns +3 bonus points, on top of the hole's points. Several players can make one on the same hole.
  6. The player with the most points at the end of the round wins.
Worked example

Hole 7, par 3. Yasmine puts her ball on the green in 1 stroke, Bruno and Salomé in 2 → Bingo to Yasmine (1 pt). Everyone is on the green: Bruno is closest to the pin → Bango to Bruno (1 pt). Yasmine holes her putt first → Bongo to Yasmine (1 pt). Hole result: Yasmine 2 pts, Bruno 1 pt.

PlayerPoints over 18 holes
🥇 Yasmine21 pts
🥈 Bruno18 pts
🥉 Salomé15 pts

54 points handed out in total over 18 holes (3 points × 18), not counting any Ace bonuses.

The Bongo: a setting to choose in the app

The Bongo variant is set before you start the round: either it rewards the first player to hole their ball, or it rewards the longest putt holed on the hole. The two settings change the strategy noticeably — it is up to you to choose the one that suits your group.

The “fewest strokes” option, against gamesmanship

The position points are won through the order of play: a player might be tempted to miss their approach on purpose to stay furthest away, putt first and snatch the Bongo. An option you can switch on in configuration therefore adds a 4th point for the player who finishes the hole in the fewest strokes — shared when tied. The score comes back into the equation without taking anything away from the spirit of the game.

Why we love this game

Because on a par 3, everyone can win a point without an exceptional score: accuracy and the short game count for more than length. Never rush a short putt: the Bongo is worth as much as the other two points put together — especially when the +3-point hole in one is lurking on every attempt.

Frequently asked questions

What is Bingo Pitch & Putt?

It is the version of Bingo Bango Bongo tailored to pitch & putt courses and par 3 holes: on every hole, 3 points are at stake (Bingo, Bango, Bongo), and the player with the most points at the end of the round wins.

How do you win the Bingo point?

The Bingo goes to the player who reaches the green in the fewest strokes. If there is a tie, the point is shared equally between the players concerned (with 2 players, 0.5 points each).
